The mission of the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) is to prevent kidney disease and improve the quality of life for those living with it. The NKFM is widely known for providing more programs and services to more people than any other region or state.
With the support of the Michigan Nutrition Network, the NKFM offers a wide variety of Programs for Early Childhood Health, one of which is School Food Mobiles. School Food Mobiles is dedicated to provide families the opportunity to receive nutrition education and encourage healthy environments. To make this possible, the NKFM reaches the Fish and Loaves community four times a year to empower healthy food choices and increase food security.
Monthly healthy recipes, nutrition education, and tastings are provided based on the food available at that time as well as nutrition education reinforcement items that contain healthy messages that are aligned with USDA guidelines.
